Membership Responsiblity
sNew in 2015, just a fairly straightforward note about our responsibilities as MSC members. Please read, whether you are a current member or a new member. To be a full member of MSC (and get officially added to the WSCA membership list, etc.), you'll need to
1) pay your dues ($10 single and $20 family) before April. Cansis Bodsberg is the Treasurer and dues are paid to her.
2) Get a copy of the Membership Responsibility Form to her. You can give her a hard copy at a meeting or an MSC event, you can email her a copy of the form and just type "I agree" in the email, or you can simply complete the form below. Doing so will signify that you've read and agree to the responsibilities outlined.
MSC Membership Responsibilities - 2020
The purpose of the Menomonie Saddle Club is to develop and promote good fellowship among horse enthusiasts; to promote and develop good horsemanship together with knowledge and interest in the care, training and breeding of good horses; to promote and cultivate all equestrian games and sports, and through the activities of this club, to interest and educate the public in recreational possibilities and benefits of the use and ownership of horses; to promote and cultivate the formation of association and friendly relationships with similar clubs throughout this state and elsewhere.
Menomonie Saddle Club provides an array of equine and equine-related activities throughout the year for all members. Examples include trail rides/camping trips, sorting, sledding parties, holiday parties, bowling (winter!), fun show, etc. Generally the club pays for at least some meals at these events, prizes, or some defrayment of other costs associated, as well as stalling at Champ Show and WSCA membership. The best way for members to enjoy these benefits and the camaraderie that is part of membership, is through participation.
All members are responsible for providing a minimum of 4 hours of “work” annually for the betterment of the club. MSC spends the bulk of its funds on the Drill Team (and Square Team when that is active). Drill/Square members are responsible for providing a minimum of 8 hours of “work” annually in order to be eligible for funds for travel to events such as Michigan Rodeo, stalls at State Fair, and any other financial assistance that the club may decide to extend.
The word work is in parenthesis above for the simple reason that although we may be working at a show or during a maintenance day, it’s mostly fun. there are usually refreshments, lots of laughs and a relaxed time to get to know each other. Examples of activities that comprise such work include:
·
Working at any of the shows. There are generally 3 show days annually - -2 days for the NBHA tournament, 1 day for the WSCA Speed Show. In addition to the 8 – 12 hours each day for the actual show activities, there is work to be done the night before the show, and plenty of cleanup after the show. Shows provide at least 30 hours during which members can work.
·
Maintenance to the fairgrounds. There is painting and other maintenance to be done every year, usually 6 – 8 hours minimally.
·
Tack trailer cleaning and maintenance.
